RESEARCH

I am currently researching and writing on the lived experience of being in the decades of life after 50. I call this "Oldering." Unlike the term "aging" which refers to physical phenomena such as the decline in cell rate division and bone growth , oldering includes all of the experiences of  becoming and being older. Oldering includes the physical and the metaphysical.  Building upon the biological truth that all decomposition is simultaneously recomposition, oldering asks us to consider how our insight is growing as our eyesight diminishes.  Oldering tracks the itime of transition and passage of later life which is as significant as adolescence but has a different intent and biophysical underpinning.  It is a time rich with new understandings of oneself as body and self in the world outside and within.

I invite you to check out my blog at: robinrosesaltonstall.com.

I welcome any stories you want to share about your own oldering experience.
